Update on Shattered
Shattered’s coming along nicely so far. God, I wish I could tell you what’s going on, but I can’t, so you’ll just have to wonder
If you want a bit of food for thought, I’ll give you one word: “Tin”. Make of that what you will…
We’re a little over the halfway mark of the rough draft. I know a lot of people don’t go off of a word count, but I do, just because I could condense the story into a couple of paragraphs if I wanted to. I’ll go until the story’s done, but I’m going to try and make sure it’s done in about another 20 or so chapters. Look for it to be about the same length as Like Glass, maybe a little longer.
Of course, I’m still on the rough draft, so I reserve the right to change anything — including the planned length — without notice. I might even change it to where “Tin” — which, while not exactly a plot point, does have a relation to the story — is completely meaningless.
Aside from that, a little birdy told me you might want to stay tuned over the next week for some … news. No details yet (stupid bird), so I’m as anxious as you are. But keep this site in mind as you make your daily rounds over the next few days; maybe there’ll be something worth reading
I’m off to dream land now, or as close as I can get to it while keeping what few threads of sanity I have left.

Quickie Shattered Update
Did some work on Shattered yesterday, and I wish I could tell you about it — it’s definitely one of the harsher scenes I’ve ever written. I’m sure it’ll get re-sculpted in editing, but the rough draft is pretty awesome (well, of course I think so…).
We’re making progress with it though. If all goes well, I could have the rough draft finished by Christmas — hopefully in time to seriously mention it during the television interview. We’ll see what happens though.
For now, you’re stuck with Like Glass I’m afraid, but I’m trying to get you some more reading material
Coming Up: Television Interview
Alright everyone, mark your calendars! Monday, December 22nd at about 12:30 PM I’ll be on KVIA 7 in El Paso to promote LIke Glass! For those of you who aren’t in the area, I’ll try and get a copy I can post on the web here for you.
Trust me, I’ll probably be blabbing about this more between now and then
Obligatory Introductory Post
Hello everyone, and welcome to the official Matthew Cory website — God that sounds pretentious. But, for better or worse, here it is and here we are. I’m planning on this to be more focused on my works, so while I’ll try and get a little bit of content posted regularly, there probably won’t be a whole lot going on for a little while.
To start with though, I do have a little bit of gossip for you. Not quite news — nothing so special as that. But, I have it on good authority that a publisher actually requested a copy of the Like Glass manuscript for their review. Trust me, if anything comes of it, you’ll be one of the first to know.
Aside from that, I must admit that Shattered has taken a back seat recently. In two words: I’m stuck. Yes, it’s most likely from the same thing I’ve been blaring about incessantly at Chocolate for Dogs, I’m not “letting myself write crap”. What can I say — I’m allowed to break my own rules
But, hopefully it’ll pick up a little bit now that things seem to be settling down a little. No, scratch that. It will pick up. I may have to scrap some of what I’ve already written, but I know the story’s still there, it’s just a matter of scraping the damned thing out.
Anyways, I’m off to catch some shut eye. Feel free to snoop around a little bit, though the site is still most definitely under construction — you’ll probably find a couple of broken links or links to Chocolate for Dogs still in the mix. And we’re still quite lame too, but hey, it’s the first day this thing’s live.
Catch you on the flip side.
–Matt
